Our newest melon defies classification – part Cantaloupe, part Galia, all flavor! This variety is sweet, juicy and ripens earliest in its class. Selected as a fresh market variety, Divergent has orange flesh and a closed cavity. Medium-sized round fruits set close to the crown for a concentrated harvest. Plants are vigorous and mature quickly, making this a variety that can be harvested in 2 to 3 passes. Succession plantings are recommended for a continuous supply throughout the season. This specialty cantaloupe is notable for its uniformity, both in maturity and fruit appearance. The exterior netting is low and fruits look similar to a Galia from the outside. Melons are ready to harvest when they have turned halfway from green to tan. Divergent is an adaptable, high yielding variety that performs well in many regions, including Northern areas with shorter seasons.
